We will also be able to publish the parish design showing the location of chambers so that local champions can continue their task of discussing with their neighbours the exact routes of service lines from chambers to homes. When the design in the parish can be published we intend to have a meeting to which all residents of the parish will be invited in order to go through the details of planning the routes of service lines and how to install the ducts. This work will need to be done by each hamlet’s residents. In order to facilitate this, we are at an advanced stage in buying equipment which can be borrowed to augment tools owned by residents. We intend to buy a few mattocks, trenching spades, mains-powered drills, battery-powered drills, a whacker plate, a stone cutter and a micro-digger. The last item will be small enough to work in gardens.
Expressions of interest in connecting to the network have now reached 70.4% of all homes and businesses in the three parishes and the total investment is £327,450. We urge anyone who is still wondering whether to register an interest in connecting to do so soon by going to our website and submitting the simple form so that we have their contact details.
