The first houses in Preston Patrick have been connected to B4RN. However, most homes in the parish are west of the M6 along the Old Hutton-Gatebeck-Auction Mart route. B4RN is still awaiting delivery of 288 fibre to complete the trunk line. There is a world shortage of it so it is not yet known when the delivery will be received.
Work has focussed on laying services to houses and doing house connections in Preston Patrick and Old Hutton. On the 10th October 29 were live in the former and 68 in the latter. One person has reported a speed of 931Mbs. The speed depends on the age of the computer and whether the signal is received by wireless or ethernet cable. Our IT experts can give advice if necessary.
Although it might seem that we are nearing the end of the project, this is not so. We have laid about 39.5Km (24.5 miles) of trunk and spur duct but we still have about 17.0Km (10.6 miles) to go. We continue to need as many volunteers as possible to help us whatever their range of skills and abilities. 462 expressions of interest have been received so several hundred houses and businesses remain to have service ducts laid to them as well as equipment fixed inside them.
